Privacy notice
What this website collects, why, how long we keep it, and your rights.
Who we are
This website is run by Irada Foundation for Youth Development, an Iraqi non-governmental organisation based in Baghdad. We are responsible for the personal data described in this notice.
Our approach
Iraq has no general data-protection law in force at the time of writing. We voluntarily follow the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): we collect as little as we can, use it only for the purpose we state, keep it for a limited time, and protect it.
What we collect
When you use the contact form
- your name;
- your email address;
- your organisation and the subject of your message, if you give them;
- your message.
We use these only to read and answer your message. A copy of your message is sent to our team mailbox (info@iradafoundation.iq). To protect the form from abuse, we keep a short-lived record derived from the network (IP) address it was sent from, stored as a one-way hash.
When you use an access code for the Ecosystem Map
While the map is in preview, we give access codes to invited people and organisations. When you enter a code, we record which code was used, when, and a one-way hash of your network (IP) address. We use this to manage access, to withdraw codes when needed, and to limit repeated attempts. A short label may be stored with the code (for example, the name of the organisation it was given to).
Staff accounts
Members of Irada's team who manage the site have their own accounts. For each account we store the name, work email address, role, a protected (hashed) password, the key used for two-step sign-in, and a log of the changes the account holder makes.
What we don't collect
We don't use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and we don't load scripts, fonts or trackers from other companies. We don't sell personal data or share it for marketing.
The Ecosystem Map lists organisations, not individuals. It doesn't show people's names, personal phone numbers, personal email addresses or street addresses, and we never collect information about religion, sect, ethnicity, tribe or political views.
Cookies
We use only two functional cookies:
- Map access (ir_map): set when you enter a valid access code, so that you don't need to enter it again. It is signed, lasts 30 days, and holds only a signed reference to the access code.
- Staff session: set only when a team member signs in to the admin area. It ends when they sign out or after a period of inactivity.
Neither cookie is used for tracking. Because both are strictly necessary for the site to work, we don't show a cookie banner.
How long we keep data
- Contact messages and the sender's details, including the copy in our team mailbox: deleted 6 months after we receive them.
- Access-code records: while the code is valid, then for up to 12 months for security review.
- Staff accounts: while the person works with us. The log of changes is kept for accountability.
- Backups: encrypted and kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data can remain in a backup for that long.
- Server logs kept by our hosting provider: for a limited period under the provider's own policy.
Who can see it
Only authorised members of Irada's team. Our hosting provider stores the site's data on our behalf and may process it outside Iraq. We don't share personal data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or object to how we use it.
Write to info@iradafoundation.iq. We reply within 30 days. We may ask a simple question to confirm that the request is yours; we never ask for identity documents.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, two-step sign-in for staff, and separate databases for public and private information. The site runs on shared hosting, and no system is completely secure. For that reason, we keep the personal data we hold to a minimum.
