About Irada

Irada Network was born from a need to coordinate the efforts of the organisations that support entrepreneurs in Iraq. We have been coordinating them since 2023.

Why Irada exists

Over the past decade, a growing number of organisations in Iraq have started supporting entrepreneurs: hubs, incubators, accelerators, makerspaces and training providers. Many of them ran similar programmes for the same founders, often without knowing what the others were doing.

Irada Network grew out of a close look at this landscape and open conversations with the people working in it. It became clear that the ecosystem needed a shared space where these organisations could coordinate, show what they offer, and speak together with government bodies and international partners. Mapping work in 2022, including a study by KAPITA, one of our members, pointed to the same need.

Irada has coordinated Global Entrepreneurship Week activities in Iraq since 2023, together with its members and partners.

Our mission

To strengthen Iraq's entrepreneurial ecosystem by empowering enablers, unlocking finance, promoting inclusive policies, and advancing digital and financial literacy — creating fertile ground for startups, MSMEs, and youth to innovate, grow, and lead.

Our vision

A prosperous Iraq where inclusive entrepreneurship drives innovation, job creation, and social impact — supported by a collaborative ecosystem, accessible finance, enabling policies, and a digitally empowered society.

Foundation and network

Irada Foundation for Youth Development is a registered Iraqi non-governmental organisation. It is based in Baghdad, works across Iraq, and is led by its Founder and Chair.

Irada Network is the group of member organisations that the Foundation coordinates. Organisations join the network by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Foundation.

How we work with others

  • Neutral convener. Listing on our platforms is free. There is no paid placement, rating or ranking, and Irada lists itself and its own programmes on the same terms as everyone else.
  • Working together. We present what our members offer as one ecosystem rather than as separate efforts.
  • A shared voice. We bring the ecosystem's needs to government bodies and international partners, based on evidence.
